Shapeshifter Datafile

Overall

Recognization

Shapeshifters, as the name suggest, can change their form. One of them is a human form. In this form, there is no secure way to distinguish them from normal people short of blood and DNA-tests. They may have body or facial features resembling their animal origin, but this information is not very reliable.

Other forms vary from shapeshifter to another, but the most common shapeshifter is a so-called werewolf, an insane and sick crossbreed of a man and a wolf or a mutt. A werewolf can change, as the name suggests, into a wolf or a large wolfhound. In this form, it can also be quite hard to distinguish it from normal animal withou more extensive research, but its behaviour can be a good indicator.

Some information sources also mention giant monsterdogs, bipedial over 2 meter insane crossbreeds of a man and a wolf, with furry body, wolf's head and front paws as hands. This form is reported to have unhuman strength, speed and endurance, and is often referred as battleform. The advatnage in this form is that it is quite hard not to recognize a shapeshifter in it. Unwary people may think it as a bear or other similar large furry creature, but do not fall to this.

Organization

Some shapeshifters are loners, preferring solitude and hiding in the shadows, but the most common (and dangerous) shapeshifter, werewolf, is a pack animal, as wolves are. This must be considered when one is sighted or even assaulted, but this can also be used as advantage.

Known Powers

Known Vulnerabilities

As noted before, shapeshifters usually have unnatural power of regeneration, being able to close horrible wounds within seconds or at least in minutes. Althought this regeneration is reported not to work while in human form, the fast regeneration is a major threat, requiring powerful, continuous or accurate attacks. However, field reports indicate that at least werewolves are susceptible to fire, thanks to their heavy fur. In addition, some reports give hints that werewolves are, as legends and other nonsense claims, somehow susceptible to silver, even some major reactions are reported. However, some reports claim that known werewolves in human form have handled silver without any reaction, and some werewolves in beastform have been seen with large silver sword in one hand.
